“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16

It is so exciting to be starting a season focusing on the huge mission that God has given us as a Church to be Light in this World.

This is a season where we seek to catch a fresh vision of God’s heart for the region of Canterbury and encourage one another to continue to shine our light in every environment we walk into.

During this time, we believe that God wants to grow our hearts, our faith, our lives and our generosity as we continue to partner with God in releasing His plans for Canterbury. We will be inspired by the stories of many who are already being a light in this world including entrepreneurs, teachers, baristas and full-time mums!

We hope that everyone will join a special lifegroup for this season, so together we can discuss, pray and learn. We believe life is best lived in community and to feel part of our ever increasing family, it is a vital way to make connections at Grace.

A significant part of this season will be sharing about our exciting developments across our campuses. We feel God calling us to make room for more, which is exciting but also stretching! We are praying that as the Lord moves our hearts, He will provide the money to fulfil the vision He has given us.

Prayer and fasting is a key part of this season, as together we seek God to bring us close to Him, hear His voice more clearly and be led in His power to change the world around us.

We are praying that this special season will bring us all closer to God, closer to each other, and develop a real passion in us all, to work together to be Light in this World. We want to see even greater light come to this region.

With Love,
Dave and Lis MacGregor

// Come on Sundays
Will be covering a different theme each Sunday. Commit to being there each week.

// Join a Lifegroup
Being part of a lifegroup is a crucial way to journey together as a Church. The main way to engage with out Light of the World season will be to join a lifegroup. Each lifegroup will be covering the same topics and using the same material. It is key that you do not miss out and you get connected to a small group of people with whom you can journey this season with. We will have a whole list of lifegroups on our website for you to choose from and you can sign up online via www.grace.org.nz

// Prayer
Nothing can be achieved without prayer. We will be praying corporately and individually throughout this season. There will be corporate prayer gatherings and at different points, prayer rooms will be avaailble.

// Fasting
Fasting is not just going without food. The purpose of fasting is to disconnect you from the world and emphasise your connection with God. The point is, you get closer to God as you get further from the world. What you feed grows. If you feed your body it will grow. If you feed your spirit it will grow.

// Give
Would you commit to pray about what you can give financially, above and beyond tithes and offerings, in preparation for our Giving Sunday on Sun 16 September? We are praying for a huge miracle, and the larger the miracle, the quicker we will be able to achieve our goals!

// Be the Light
Over this season, look for ways of how you can be a light in this world. Maybe as an individual at work, or as a family or as a lifegroup, you can organise ways you can demonstrate the Love of God to those around you. Also on Saturday 8 September, we will be carrying out practical projects near our campuses which will be a blessing to our community.

We have a daily devotional for this season. Take time to journey with us by pressing into what God is saying.
