“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 4:6
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness...’”.
This is an allusion to Genesis 1:3, where, “God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” The same God, who created the miracle that is light, shines His light in our hearts so that we can glimpse His glory.
Sometimes we feel weak - and we are - but we are not dependent on our strength, but on God’s power. We need eyes to see, that are only obtainable through the light that comes from God through Jesus Christ. Those of us, who give up trying to run our own lives and trust in the Lord as our King and Redeemer, are given eyes that see.
Jesus turned to His disciples at one point and said, “Blessed are your eyes for they see and your ears for they hear” - Matthew 13:16. Outwardly, the disciples were the same, but inside they were beginning to see the things of God.
Dear God, help me to see things through your eyes. Thank you for the light that You shine in my heart, revealed in the precious face of Jesus. Allow me to see the little miracles that this illuminates around me each day. Let your light shine through me so that others may also see. Amen.
Look out for the miracles God begins to illuminate in your life. Sometimes change is subtle and we do not recognise little everyday miracles for what they are. Ask God to help you see!
