WEEK 3 - DAY 18

“Arise and shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” - Isaiah 60:1

Sitting on a beach in the early hours of the morning, waiting for the sun to rise, is not the romantic impression that it is often made out to be. In fact, it can be cold, damp, loaded with imposing shadows and strange noises. However, as the sun rises and the light breaks through, it exposes all that has been in the darkness and a total change in the environment occurs. As the sun creeps higher, the warmth and light of the sun illuminates the earth and transform it from what it had been minutes before.

As the rising of the sun transforms the environment we
are called to shine God through who we are, where ever
we are, and to whomever we are with. This can seem such
a daunting task as we all have good days and not so good days; days when we feel we shine and days when we just want to sink into the background. Through God’s amazing grace, each one of us will shine and shine brightly. Our effort is to recognise what in our heart, mind and life we need to wake up to and makes these changes so that we can be present to the Light of the World! As we desire this in our heart, it is through His grace that we will be transformed.

Sovereign Father and Creator of all, reveal to me today what I need to wake up to, and give back to You. Help me to be present and to notice how You are with me in my daily walk. Amen.

During quiet time today, think of any worries, attitudes or wrong actions that are stopping you from shining brighter in your faith. Now turn your palms down and give these things to God. Now turn your palms up and ask God to fill you with the good things you need. Repeat this process until you have given away to Him all that you need to and received what He has to give.
